Since the announcement of the XNA Framework 4.0, the PrismEngine team had a burning desire to watch this more closely and quickly to change our engine above to take advantage of the new mobile platform from Microsoft. After some tests on the new capabilities of the Framework (see the latest articles Niels Freier example). The group, or rather our technical lead Benjamin Baldacci was booked a night with a goal to complete this evolution. Around 5am, a mail announcing that it was done and it was now time for him to go play a little to the xbox 360;). The move to XNA 4.0 is not final yet, we await a more complete version of the Framework which is currently in CTP, but we have confirmed that even for a large project, the transition is not very heavy. There are few things that need to change but overall, no worries. Within hours, the engine was running! I allow myself to quote our technical lead: "Fucking null reference that debug was not fucking tell me! "Bug that had him take about half the time it is to say ... No demo has been made specifically for the platform, we have simply taken a small demo made some time ago who was there to demonstrate the added functionality through modules. It worked on PC, Xbox360, Surface and Zune HD, well now we can officially say that it also works on Windows Phone 7 Series:). (Note that the Zune HD has disappeared from the version 4.0 of the Framework, therefore, rest his soul ...) PrismEngine, one of the first engines to run XNA on Windows Mobile? In the first in all cases). Thank you to Benjamin for his work! |
